ProgArchives: Fredy Guye is an obscure swiss keyboardist whose music is specialised in vertiginous spacey synthesised pieces. It includes a taste for concrete-neurotic sounds and church-like organs. The music delivers some astonishing lysergic moments, playing with ambiguous-liminal states created by multi textural dronescapes. It can easily be compared to Cyborg (Klaus Schulze) and to Sternzeit (Adelbert Von Deyen) with much more emphasis on religiously classical music themes. He published his first album "Journey into a dream" in 1974. One piece will be re-worked and used for the movie "Coma" (1976)directed by M. Lenherr. In 1980 is published his second and last LP.

Tapestry of Delights: Their first folk-rock album is now quite sought-after by collectors. It was produced by Larry Page (the man behind The Troggs), but is simply pleasant but unexceptional folk music, somewhat marred by Richard Todd reciting poetry over the opening track on each side. The band were from Gloucestershire and two of the album's stronger tracks are Gloucester City and Fruit Of The Musical Tree, an effective English folk Indian raga fusion. They also recorded a second album, Room For Thought, funded by Larry Page in 1971, but it remained unissued until 1992, when Background put it out on CD with the original artwork (Background HBG 122/6). Earlier in 1980 a privately-pressed album, A Land Fit For Heroes was released. 01. "To Need Her" 3:27 02. "Statues In Maryland" 2:04 03. "Mr. Rip Van Winkle" 4:58 04. "The Planters Cottage" 4:39 05. Fuzz Acid & Flowers: From North California, an interesting rural hard rock album. Occasionally the lead vocals get a bit strained and screechy, but when the band shines it has great moments. Don't Let Her Sleep Too Long has a confident, sinister quality to it that satisfies. (Clark Faville) 01. "WinterGround" 3:04 02. "Trouble" 4:06 03. "Give Yourself Time to Live" 3:22 04. Tapestry of Delights: This progressive/avant-garde jazz artist has been assisted by a wide variety of artists on his releases. Only Open Music has really attracted much interest from collectors to date. Ophenian is his own record label. He also went on to compose music for the ballet 'Rambert'. He was one of the country's top flautists but moved to live on the continent in the late eighties. The Deep Down Heavy album is interesting, it being an amalgam of Bob Downes' music and Robert Cockburn's poetry. They collaborated on most tracks but also had their own moments; Cockburn, for example, reading extracts from his poetry. One memorable track, entitled Poplar Cheam, includes references to more than 40 underground stations with lyrics like:- She highgate in her wanstead And wapping in her bow And shadwell in her hackney hayes Makes aldwych greenwich go! (from Poplar Cheam) An underrated album for sure and something of a surprise on the Music For Pleasure label.
