    progressive: Catapilla ~ 1971 ~ Catapilla

    genre: prog

    country: uk

quality : lossless (ape, cue, log, scans)

    time: 49'24" size: 291 mb

    issue: 1993

    Tapestry of Delights:

Built around the nucleus of Wilson, Calvert and Meek, this unusual progressive band opts for long tracks, not too clearly structured, but with a unique and quite eerie atmosphere. At times the substance is necessarily overstretched, but mostly it works well and steers clear from any tedious soloing. If the music is spiritually inclined, it is at least never sugar-coated and the piercing, witch-like voice of Anna Meek creeps under your very skin. Purgatoric elements are present throughout, stronger even on Changes, which carries a telling track title: Thanks Christ For George. They have a rare quality: they do not sound like anybody else. (Marcel Koopman).

Both albums are particularly collectable coming in the original spiral Vertigo label with the spiral inner sleeve but the second one is particularly difficult to find.

    genre: beat

    country: uk

quality : lossless (ape, cue, log, scans)

    time: 58'37" size: 345 mb

    Tapestry of Delights:

A pop group from Lincoln, who formed back in 1961. They played a lot in Italy, where they had a number of hits in that language. Here they are best remembered for their hit single Jesamine, which was a beautifully crafted three minute pop song. The follow-up Toy, which was similar in style, but not as good, just made the UK Top 30 and thereafter their short spell in the limelight was over. Caroline, one of their later 45s, was produced by Roy Wood.

O'Brien had been in The Riot Squad.

    Cactus ~ 1972 ~ 'Ot 'N'Sweaty

    genre: heavy blues

    country: us

quality : lossless (ape, cue, log, scans)

    time: 35'58" size: 228 mb

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:

When Vanilla Fudge split, Appice and Bogert formed Cactus with Jim McCarty, the former Mitch Ryder guitarist, and Rusty Day, a singer and harmonica player. Their albums were well received by hard rock fans and may interest some readers in search of loud and heavy rock. For the third album, a keyboard player was added to the line-up and in 1972 McCarty and Day left. They were replaced by Werner Fritzschings and Peter French for the final album, recorded partly live at the Mar Y Sol Festival in Purto Rico. Their records were produced by Geoffrey Haslam, who also worked with the J.Geils Band.

Appice and Bogert then joined Jeff Beck and the group disbanded. Hitchings formed the imaginarily named New Cactus Band with two ex Blues Image members, Mike Pinera and Manuel Bertematti, and recorded Son Of Cactus (Atlantic ) 1973. After it flopped, Hitchings and Pinera formed Thee Image and released two better avoided albums for Manticore in 1975.
