    Tapestry Of Delights:

When Money broke up The Big Roll Band, he formed this suitably named psychedelic outfit who performed frequently at London's Middle Earth and UFO clubs. They were certainly a talented outfit. Andy Summers, of course, later played with The Police, and Colin Allen went on to play with John Mayall and Stone The Crows. They recorded just one single for Columbia, The Madman Running Through The Fields. Penned by Money and Andy Summers it was perhaps one of the finest pieces of psychedelia recorded in the UK, this single is now very sought-after. The song was later covered by Eric Burdon and The Animals (with a line-up including Zoot Money and Andy Summers) on their Love Is album and is also on Transition (Direction 863231) 1968 by Zoot Money. The 45's flip side was a Tony Colton/Ray Smith ballad with appealing vocals.

Dantalion's Chariot's live appearances were amazing. They took to the stage in white robes and had what was generally regarded as the best light show in town. The only problem was this ensured they made heavy financial loses with every appearance. They also appeared in 'Pop Down', a Fred Marshall film about the excesses of Swingin' London seen through the eyes of two visitors from outer space named Sagittarius and Aries. The film, by all accounts, was appalling but it did feature music from Blossom Toes and an embryonic Idle Race as well.

Rumours of an unreleased Dantalion's Chariot album were untrue, but in 1995 David Wells' Tenth Planet label pieced together an album of previously unreleased material by the band, plus both sides of their 45. Soma, which appeared in two parts, one on each side of the album, with Andy Summers (who co-wrote it with his tutor Narzir Jarazbhoy) on sitar, was a fine Eastern-sounding remnant from 1967. Fourpenny Bus Ride and, to a lesser degree, Four Firemen were reasonable examples of whimsical psychedelic pop, but of the previously unissued material the jarring World War Three and jazz-tinged High Flying Bird (not the popular US West Coast standard, although it is an ode to the beautiful people of San Francisco), both Money/Summers collaborations, are the high points. By contrast Coffee Song and Recapture The Thrill were inconsequential mainstream recordings. However, overall this album is recommended.

    the Tapestry of Delights:
This group was most notable for being a particularly early outing for Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer who were later in Vinegar Joe. This is probably why the album has become a very minor collector's item. Peter Gage was also in Vinegar Joe.

    ProgArchives:
The acclaimed Spanish fusion band IMÁN CALIFATO INDEPENDIENTE has its origins at a convention, given by the meditation guru Maja-raj-ji, in the mid Seventies. Like genuine hippies, the musicians lived together in one house in El Puerto De Sta. Maria and eventually they founded IMAN, featuring Inaki Egana (bass and vocals), Kiko Guerrero (drums and percussion), Marcus Mantero (keyboards), and Manuel Rodriguez (6 - and 12-string electric guitar, vocals and percussion). In '78 they made their first record, entitled "Iman Califato Independiente". In '80 IMAN produced their second and last album "Camino del Aguila". IMAN also appeared on the Spanish compilation albums "Rock Andalus" ('94) with the songs "Tarantos", "Cancion de la Oruga" and "Ninos" and the exciting 2-CD "Duende" ('97) with "Tarantos". Their strong and alternating sound is a fusion of symphonic rock in the vein of PINK FLOYD and the jazzrock from the CANTERBURY SCHOOL, added with some Andalusian flavour.
Both albums by IMAN are worth listening if you are up to a mainly instrumental blend of jazzrock and symphonic rock. The rhythm-section is tight and adventurous, the guitarplay strong and the keyboards sound pleasant. The most captivating element of IMAN is the interplay between guitar and keyboards (at some moments evoking ICEBERG). The above-mentioned composition "Tarantos" (this is a flamenco rhythm) captures the best of IMAN, what a exciting guitar and keyboards! In contrary, "Ninos" (with vocals) is a wonderful and romantic, folky-oriented track. This emphasizes the variety of their music. ~

    Dreams, Fantasies & Nightmares:

Mike Furber originally fronted a Brisbane mid-sixties outfit Mike Furber and The Bowery Boys. In 1966, when he was still just seventeen, Furber went solo. He met with considerable success with his first two 45s, but suffered unfavourable comparisons with Normie Rowe, and his popularity soon diminished.

After a spell of national service, he appeared in two stage musicals in 1973; 'Godspell' and 'Nuclear'. After being sacked from the second of these and with his fortunes at an all-time low, he hung himself in May 1973.
