    Dragon ~ 1976 ~ Dragongenre: heavy prog
    country: belgium
audio: lossless (flac, cue, log, scanss)
    time: 38'09"  size: 222 mb

    Scented Gardens of Mind:
On offer here is a curious mixture of spacious and progressive styles, related to Pulsar, Akasha and Amon Düül II. Opinions vary about their musical validity and, although it contains some parts with unusual and interesting instrumentation, this is certainly no lost masterpiece in my view.
The group also made some demo recordings before their demise. These were eventually released in 1988 and might be of interest for music archaeologists (but be prepared for a few false notes and tape dropouts).

the David ~ 1967 ~ Another Day Another Lifetimegenre: psych
    country: us
audio: lossless (flac, cue, log, scanss)
    time: 37'52"  size: 241 mb

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
The David, who came from Los Angeles, made an interesting album which has now become a collectors' item. The title track blends Eastern, chantlike overtones with Western orchestrational motifs. Other tracks are often characterised by driving rhythms played alongside oddly spaced melody lines. Much of the material - which was all written and composed by Warren Hansen - is heavily orchestrated. Hansen also invented an instrument, which he called the Plasmatar, to provide the vibrant rasp on one track Mirrors of Wood, which also contains some fine fuzztone. The final track Of Our Other Days had considerable commercial potential with a calypso- style melody and hypnotic beat. ~ (Vernon Joynson / Max Waller)

    Damon ~ 1969 ~ Song Of A Gypsygenre: psych
    country: us
audio: lossless (flac, cue, log, scanss)
    time: 27'45"  size: 167 mb

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
The Damon recordings are amongst the most sought-after and widely-loved of the late-sixties underground scene. Simply put, they convey emotion and power in a very concise and believable way. Song Of A Gypsy is is an excellent psychedelic album and both gatefold/non-gatefold versions are monster rarities. There's lots of fuzz guitar and a mystical feel about tracks like Do You and The Night. I Feel Your Love which has a sleepy, stoned atmosphere sounding rather similar to The Deep. Another track, Birds Fly So High, has 'snake charming' music, again creating a sort of Eastern mystical feel.
Based in Los Angeles, David Del Conte and Charlie Carey had already pursued careers in popular music for many years before deciding to embrace the underground rock movement. Del Conte released a considerable number of 45s; it is possible that as much as half of his discography will be found to be too early to fall within the time-frame of this book. The last recordings he made pre-Damon (aside from a handful of acetates never made available to the public) may be of interest to readers. As Damon Lane, he issued at least three singles on the Del Con label - these possess a unique Byrdsy jangle over which his trademark authoritative voice presides.

Beacon Street Union ~ 1968 ~ The Eyes Of The Beacon Street Uniongenre: psych
    country: us
audio: lossless (flac, cue, log, scanss)
    time: 1:19'39"  size: 459 mb

    Fuzz Acid & flowers:
This group, part of the 'Bosstown Sound', were energetically promoted in 1968. Their debut album, though often pretentious, was a mini-psychedelic masterpiece. The material, a mixture of acid rock, blues, and ballads, was usually original and often interesting. The album is recommended. Their second effort continued in a similar vein, but contained the orchestrated Clown's Overture and Angus Of Aberdeen. Also of note on the album were a sixteen minute version of Baby Please Don't Go, a most unusual track entitled May I Light Your Cigarette? and a version of the Carl Perkin's classic Blue Suede Shoes. The back cover of this album pictures the band walking on top of a cloud and their strange music was undoubtedly largely drug-induced. Either or both albums are well worth checking out and both met with some commercial success.
Beacon Street Union ~ 1968 ~ The Clown Died In Marvin GardenzWright, Ulaky and Rhodes all played for Eagle, who issued an album for Janus Records. Then in 1977, John Lincoln Wright released a country music album titled Takin' Old Route One. Wright has pursued a career as a country singer and remains a popular entertainer today in the New England area. ~ (Vernon Joynson / Steve Panter / Max Waller / Stephane Rebeschini)

    genre: brass
    country: germany
audio: lossless (flac, cue, log, scanss)
    time: 44'04"  size: 332 mb

    Crack in th Cosmic Egg:
The history of Emergency is a strange one, as their roots actually stem from Prague, Czechoslovakia with the jazz musician Hanus Berka. In 1966 he went to America to seek his fortune and the roots of jazz, whilst there he discovered a new music: "brass-rock", but becoming disillusioned he drifted back to Europe. In Munich he met some fellow Czech's touring with a production of "Hair" and decided to form a band, the only German at the start was Udo Lindenberg.
Their debut EMERGENCY showed a group with many influences, a meeting of East-Euro jazz and Anglo-American styles as instigated by the likes of Chicago Transit Authority, Keef Hartley, etc., they were stylists of the popular CBS jazz-spiced progressive sound. In many ways their second EMERGENCY ENTRANCE was a big step on, in that it featured much bigger tracks, and hence lots of complex instrumental work. It is extremely obscure due to its controversial cover, and the reissue even more so! Overall, it is probably their best.

    ItalianProg:
A band from Ornago, near Milan, whose identity has been surrounded by mystery until recently, they released a beautiful album in 1975 on the Kansas label.
The group had been formed around 1967 as Angelo e gli Spacemen, with the leader Angelo being much older than the others, all 11-12 years old kids! When Angelo left the group in 1969, the others kept playing, adopting the name E.A.Poe in 1970.
The band initially had a repertoire of covers, by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Deep Purple, then began composing original material, having a good live activity in their area.
