    Velvet Opera ~ 1969 ~ Ride A Hustler's Dreamgenre: bluespsych
    state: uk
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers)
    time: 50:25 size: 332 mb

    Tapestry of Delights:
This was a later version of Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera. When Elmer Gantry left, he was replaced by Paul Brett, who was later in Fire and went on to form Paul Brett's Sage. Based in London, they finally split up in 1971. John Ford and Richard Hudson were later in The Strawbs and Hudson-Ford, Jon Joyce had earlier been in Levee Breakers.

Velvet Night ~ 1969 ~ Velvet Nightgenre: psych
    state: us
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers)
    time: 42:17 size: 245 mb

    Fuzz Acis & Flowers:
The album contains passable cover versions of Season Of The Witch, If I Were A Carpenter, The Weight (with the Band's song miscredited to Tim Hardin!) and a Cream medley (I'm Free, The Sunshine Of Your Love, White Room and I'm So Glad). Only one song (Don't Let Me Stand In Your Way) is written by a band member (Vinnie Nisi). The best three tracks - Velvet Night, Freak Show and Edge Of The Woods were written by non-band members Jimmy Curtiss and S. Kanyon.
For the most part, heavy choppy psych, that'll appeal to fans of the Vanilla Fudge/Hassles school possibly but for some an acquired taste.

    Scented Gardens of Mind:
Vanay had a solid background from studying classical music, but decided to make some "rock" albums. Galaxies (1974) contained dreamy, poetic (even romantic) soft progressive rock in the tradition of Iris and Cressida. She later became Laurent Thibault's wife.

    Valhalla ~ 1969 ~ Valhallagenre: psych
    state: uk
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers)
    time: 48:29 size: 292 mb

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
United Artists managed to sign several good groups (Thunder and Roses, Boffalongo, Pookah for example) but never gave them much promotion. Led by Mark Mangold who composed their material, Valhalla is another of these forgotten groups and their album deserves to be rediscovered. It mixes heavy rock, prog and psych with a predominant organ and powerful vocals on tracks like Psychedelic Minds Going Nowhere and Overseas Symphony.
Mark Mangold would later play with American Tears. ~ (Stephane Rebeschini)

Uriah Heep ~ 1972 ~ Demons And Wizards

    genre: heavy prog
    state: uk
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers)
    time: 66:03 size: 438 mb

    wikipedia:
Fourth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. The album helped the band break to fame and also gave the band its face. It has become a major success worldwide by selling 3 million copies.
The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, the front of which was designed by Roger Dean and contains a hidden erotic image of male and female genitalia. The inner of the gatefold had pictures of the band and notes by Ken Hensley, whilst the LP itself was housed in a liner on which were printed the lyrics.
The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. "Easy Livin'" entered the US Top 40 at No. 39, making it Heep's first and only American hit. "Easy Livin'" was also a mega hit in the Netherlands and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band.
New Zealander Gary Thain, at the time a member of Keef Hartley Band, joined Uriah Heep as a permanent member halfway through another American tour. "Gary just had a style about him, it was incredible because every bass player in the world that I've ever known has always loved his style, with those melodic bass lines", Box commented later. Thus the 'classic' Uriah Heep was formed and, according to biographer K. Blows, "everything just clicked into place".
Also, the addition of Lee Kerslake (a former bandmate of Hensley's in The Gods and Toe Fat) on drums solidified the rhythm section into a world class powerhouse.

Unicorn ~ 1974 ~ Blue Pine Treesgenre: blues
    state: uk
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, cover)
    time: 39:30 size: 148 mb

    Tapestry of Delights:
Previously known as The Late, this was a pleasant country/folk band, who gradually became rockier and perhaps less interesting as a result. The Going Home 45 was a private pressing. The first Big T 45, P.F. Sloan, was a tribute to the American songwriter and, like flip side, is excellent. Dave Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) played on some of their albums and produced some of their material.
Ferrier later went on to Co-Co and Smith later played in Thumbs. ~ (Mike Warth/Jim McMaster)
