The first thing I expected when I heard the name GOTIC mixed with Spain was a dark form of Flamenco, probably oriented towards the late Medieval period mixed with Spanish Inquisition, but it was just the opposite, GOTIC is light, optimistic and high quality music that gently combines the warm and relaxing sound of CAMEL with early PFM and roots in Spanish ethnic sounds from Cataluña, a great exponent of Spanish Symphonic.
The band was formed in the late 70's by the famous Rafael Escote in the bass, Jep Nuix (Flute and Piccolo), Jordi Vilaprinyo (Keyboards) and Jordi Marti in the drums and percussion.
As I said before the main influences of their only album Escenes released in 1978 are Camel and PFM, but there are some other easy to identify Prog references to Gentle Giant and some form of Fusion that reminds me of the Jazz-Symphonic sound of Chick Corea's keyboard in his RETURN TO FOREVER era.
The best track of the album is the 10:15 minutes Epic "Historia d'una Gota d'Aigua" (History of a Drop of Water) with the dramatic change between the relaxing introp and the breathtaking closing section.
Sadly they didn't had the chance to evolve because the debut album was more than promissory but as a consolation Rafael Escote has a very prolific career as member of the Fusion band Pegasus and as a soloist.
"This album from German band Gomorrha was originally released in 1971. Trauma will weave you through the depths of its progressively complex music, with extended tracks and English vocals to boot. Furthermore, the lengthy title track extravaganza has long been considered as an exceptional masterpiece of space rock." Worth it for the blissful 13-minute title track, the rest is less exciting hard rock typical for the era.
Golem's ORION AWAKES is the only original LP on the obscure Pyramid label that I've seen for real, back in 1995, aged and tatty displayed on the wall of a Berlin record shop, and with a high price tag too.
On first listen Golem come across as a lost classic of Krautrock without a doubt. Totally instrumental, and a feast for guitar fans, Golem's style was highly derivative, yet also full of invention. A space-rocking hybrid of Gila and instrumental Hendrix type moves, in a music that also blends everything from Neu! to Novalis, and all crammed full of solos.
Although the CD cover credits that it dates from 1972/1973, the production and sound is often close to Mythos' Venus label releases circa 1978/1979. Clearly it was never intended as an album originally, seemingly from at least three different sessions, each with a different studio sound and style. This is especially notable with the new-wave edge of "The Returning".

After the break-up of the first Gila line-up - available are the LP/CD "Gila" (1971) and the CD "Night Works" (1972) - and Conny Veit's move from Stuttgart to Munich, the latter founded a new band, retaining the old name. Instead of their former lenghty improvisations, their tracks were now tightly arranged. Their only album, "Bury my heart at Wounded Knee," which was inspired by Dee Brown's book of the same title and deals with the expulsion and extermination of native Americans, features three American Indian lyrics (translated into English) and received good reviews without exception. The LP was released in 1973 on WEA/Warner Bros., while in 1995 a really bad bootleg was released by Germanofon. On both covers the tracks were mistakenly listed in the wrong order.
