    ItalianProg:
Their name is very popular among Italian music collectors because from their ashes came the commercial pop group Matia Bazar, and also among prog collectors because of their LP rarity.
Jet (or J.E.T. as their name was usually written) were formed in Genova at the beginning of the 70's from a previous band of the same name that also included later members of another pop band, Ricchi e Poveri. The group made their debut in 1971 at the radio contest "Un disco per l'estate" with their first single Vivere in te, and two other singles a year later, Non la posso perdonare and Il segno della pace, were still in a melodic pop style.
Their first album, Fede speranza carità, also in 1972, derives from a radical turn in their musical style, to the then popular progressive rock, and is a very good album, with strong hard rock influences and falsetto vocals but with nice use of organ and a solid rhythm section, as in the long Sinfonia per un re that sometimes reminds of New Trolls' multivocal parts and Il prete e il peccatore. Unfortunately this has been their only venture into prog territory, and later singles took them back to a commercial rock not particularly memorable.
In 1974 the band added a female voice (Antonella Ruggiero) and a new drummer (Giancarlo Golzi from Museo Rosenbach) changing name to Matia Bazar and starting a very long and successful career that still lasts today.

    01. "Fede, Speranza, Caritа" 10:56
    02. "Il Prete e il Peccatore" 11:11
    03. "C'e Chi Non Ha" 6:36
    04. "Sinfonia per un Re" 8:00
    05. "Sfogo" 3:42
    06. "Gloria Gloria" 3:36
    07. "Guarda coi Tuoi Occhi" 3:19

    Piero Cassano / keyboards
    Pucci Cochis / drums
    Aldo Stelita / guitars, vocals
Carlo Mallare 'Bimbo' / bass, marimba, cello, vibraphone

It's not correct when you say that J.E.T. comes from a previous band called JET which included also some former elements of Ricchi e Poveri. In reality J.E.T. was the first name of the band who made this great album "Fede Speranza e Carità" and that lately, as you correctly mention, became Matia Bazar with a new drummer Giancarlo Golzi ex Museo Rosenbach and a new female singer Antonella Ruggero (FYI Pucci Cochis left music business and became bus driver in Genova). Angelo and Franco who formed Ricchi e Poveri belonged to a previous group called Jets which included also Gianni Belleno on drums who joined New Trolls. When Belleno left Jets disbanded and the other two guys formed Ricchi e Poveri with two females ( Angela and Marina ) who were hardcore fans of the previous group Jets.

avatarIgenovesi J.E.T. formed in 1971 after three singles and melodic enough to publish an album with a beautiful
copertinaforata on the front, showing a glass of cardboard glued inside.
Theirs' a very particular style, compact and characterized by genuine Cassano keyboards and guitar and raw distorted Marrale: sounds hard (Faith Hope and Charity ') but also hints jazz (vent) or more ramblings', velvety symphony ( There 'who did not)
However, they have 'a clear limitation in the vocal parts: great voice, but the lyrics in spite of religion, are rather trivial and ill-adapted to the music.
Embarrassing the chorus falsetto disseminatitra the furrows,
also quite common for the era.
After three more singles the group prepares a second album but 'not vedra' never light.
In 1973 he participated in the Sanremo Festival, the following year is renewed in style and training, enlisted the singer Antonella Ruggero and Giancarlo Gonzi and began a career as anything but commercial value with the new name of Matia Bazar.
