    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
Sam The Sham, christened Samudio Domingo, was a Mexican-American who was born in Dallas, Texas. He formed this outfit with the Pharaohs, (who were also of Tex-Mex origin and musical inspiration), in Memphis, Tennessee in the early sixties. Their early recordings included Haunted House, a cover version of Gene Simmons' novelty rock hit. Wooly Bully, a real sixties rocker was then leased to MGM in 1965 by Stan Kesler's Pen Records in Memphis. It gave the band a U.S. No. 1 and also reached No. 11 in the UK. The band relocated to Dallas and for a time were very successful indeed.
Eventually the hits dried up and they disbanded in 1970. Ten Of Pentacles had essentially been a solo effort from Samudio and in the seventies he embarked on a solo career.
Wooly Bully is one of the Soundtrack songs to the 1979 MCA film 'More American Graffiti'. Earlier in 1965 the band had performed Monkey See Monkey Do in the Soundtrack to the 1965 MGM production 'When The Boys Meet The Girls', which was a weird re-make of the Gershwin brothers' musical 'Girl Crazy'.
Sam The Sham's backing singers The Shamettes also made some recordings in their own right. ~ (Vernon Joynson/Stephane Rebeschini/Jon Riley)
