Skid Row ~ 1970 ~ Skid Rowgenre: heavy rhythm and blues
    state: uk
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, 277 mb)
    time: 40:57

    Tapestry of Delights:
A very young Gary Moore fronted this Irish progressive and blues trio who had a good live following but never really broke through with their vinyl although their first album sold well enough to get into the Album Charts. It was an average amalgam of mellow rock, heavy blues and even had a ragtime-style guitar piece. When Moore left in 1971 he was replaced by Paul Chapman, previously with South Wales band The Universe. This line-up cut an unissued album. Chapman was later in UFO and Lone Star. Moore was later in Thin Lizzy, G-Force and recorded as a solo artist.

    Siren ~ 1969 ~ Siren + 1970 ~ Strange Locomotiongenre: rhythm and blues
    state: uk
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, 460 mb)
    time: 77:30

    Tapestry of Delights:
Formed in Bradford in the late sixties they moved to London and signed for John Peel's Dandelion label. Mick Gratton replaced Chichester on lead guitar for the second album, but soon afterwards the group disintegrated. Coyne made a further album for Dandelion, Case History, and later a series of albums for Virgin, which did not attract the attention they deserved. Many of Coyne's recordings were influenced by his experiences as a social therapist in a Preston psychiatric hospital and later, upon his move to London, as a social worker in Camden. Despite plugs by John Peel, neither Siren or Coyne's solo recordings sold well, although most are now sought-after by record collectors. They also recorded two 45s as Clague.
Tat Meager was also in Judd.

    Silverhead ~ 1972 ~ Silverheadgenre: hard
    state: uk
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers, 319 mb) time: 51:09

    Tapestry of Delights:
A competent hard rock band. Their first album includes some diverse influences. There are some boogie-orientated tracks like Rock And Roll Band, Underneath The Light (with good twin guitar work) and Rolling With My Baby (which had a brass arrangement). There are Marc Bolan/T Rex influences in Long Legged Lisa and Sold Me Down The River, some Free and Deep Purple influences in Ace Supreme, as well as slow and mellow tracks like Wounded Heart or the acoustic guitar-based Johnny. In Your Eyes is slow and mellow, at least in the beginning and in parts predates Steve Harley's (Cockney Rebel) vocal style, but also has some early seventies Mick Jagger/Stones influences too. Michael Des Barres was later in the late seventies hard rock band, Detective. They recorded on Deep Purple's Purple label and their albums were notable for some good guitar leads. ~ (Vernon Joynson/Costas Arvanitis)

Silberbart ~ 1971 ~ 4 Times Sound Razinggenre: acid heavy psych
    state: germany
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, 289 mb)
    time: 42:57

    Crack in the Cosmic Egg:
An extremely unusual heavy Krautrock trio, who had a totally unconventional and schizophrenic approach to composition. We don't know anything about them, except for their excellent sole album 4 TIMES SOUND RAZING, which contains four very different tracks. Notably close to early Guru Guru at times, yet with a bizarre vocalist, they cover a lot of ground, from cosmic blues through to weird hard-rock, Gomorrha and The Groundhogs, and beyond.

    01. Chub Chub Cherry  4:27
    02. Brain Brain  16:18

    04. Head Tear Of The Drunken Sun  12:01

Shiva's Headband ~ 1970 ~ Take Me To The Mountainsgenre: psych
    state: us
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, 316 mb)
    time: 60:34

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
Founded in July 1967 by classically-trained violinist Spencer Perskin, Shiva's Headband have proved to be one of Texas' most durable outfits. Earlier, in 1966, Perskin had spent some time in San Francisco where he had briefly played in a band which included folkie Penny Nichols. He returned to Austin to form Shiva's Headband much influenced by his experiences in San Francisco. Their debut 45 sold well locally and is now a collectors' item. Their follow-up attracted wider attention and that year they relocated to San Francisco and signed for Capitol. They hated San Francisco but remained there to record Take Me To The Mountains, a fine LP which included new versions of their first two 45s. Perskin's violin is prominent throughout the first LP, particularly on the beautiful Song For Peace and standout track Kaleidoscoptic. During their spell in California they played a few gigs at the Avalon. They were also the resident band at the New Orleans House in Berkeley for a while. It was during this time that Spencer Perskin played on Mother Earth's debut album Living With The Animals and also turned down the opportunity of joining the band. Shawn Siegel had similarly refused a spot in The Thingies prior to joining Shiva's Headband in 1968.
Having made little money from their Capitol deal, the band returned to Texas. As only 1,000 copies of their second LP Coming To A Head were pressed on the small Armadillo label, it has become a rare collectors' item. Different versions of two of the album's tracks, Country Boy/Such A Joy were issued as a 45 in a picture sleeve. They spent a while in Las Vegas in a vain attempt to set up a string of music clubs before returning to Texas to issue a 45 Don't Blame Me/Extension, which appeared in another Jim Franklin picture sleeve. Sadly, this appears to have concluded their long relationship with Franklin, who provided the band with their distinctive armadillo imagery.
