    Colin Cook & The Strangers ~ 2000 ~ His Greatest W&G Recordings

    country: australia
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, scans)
    time: 1:17'41" size: 451 mb

    Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:
Saxophonist and vocalist Colin Cook was born in Bangladesh. He first came to attention in Australia as a member of the Melbourne-based instrumental combo The Sapphires, which he was a saxophonist in between 1958-61. Their music really predates this book. After a few months in another pre-1963 Melbourne band, The Thunderbirds, in 1961, he went solo later that year.
He released a string of 45s, did a lot of session work in the early days and frequently appeared on T.V. often supporting acts from abroad.
In the late sixties he went to the U.K. He performed in the London productions of  'Hair' and  'Jesus Christ Superstar' between 1974-77. He also wrote jingles, recorded for Philips and Phonogram, formed two bands The Rainer Brothers (1979) and The Jealous Guys (1981) and appeared in several T.V. shows.

Pascal Comelade with Robert Wyatt ~ 2000 ~ September Song
    genre: electronic psych
    country: france
quality: lossless (ape separate, log, scans)
    time: 19'43" size: 105 mb

    ProgArchives:
Pascal Comelade is a french pionnier in experimental electronic soundscapes, revealing himsel as a very eclectic musician, absorbing various popular musical genres to create something unique. His discography features colourful impressionist, micro-tonal electronic efforts for a large variety of instruments and sound effects. He belongs to Richard Pinhas (Heldon) musical family tree (he played with Richard Pinhas on "Musiques pour films volume 2" , Oblique Sessions II" 1999) . He also collaborated with Faust, Robert Wyatt (September song, 2000) and formed the band Bel Canto Orchestra...The publication of "Back to Schizo" (old materials from 1975-1983) is a good introduction to post modern minimal electronics.

the Crack in the Cosmic Egg:

Michael Rother (born 2/9/1950, in Hamburg) was raised in Munich, Wilmslow (England) and Karachi (Pakistan), before returning to Germany, settling down in Düsseldorf during his teens.

From 1965-1971 he was with the band Spirit Of Sound, and then spent a short time with Kraftwerk before establishing with fellow Kraftwerk member Klaus Dinger, the dynamic duo Neu! in 1972. Michael also worked in the band Harmonia, with Cluster musicians. As a guitarist and sonic explorer in these earlier days he proved to be an innovator with exceptional talent and unique vision.

As a soloist, Michael's output has never quite lived up to what most people expected. A talented guitarist and explorative musician, yet even his debut FLAMMENDE HERZEN sounded like a diluted Neu! Though notable for Jaki Liebezeit's precision drumming, and exceptional quality production, it was the start of a trend that ended up with later albums becoming very mellow. Amusingly, one could say some ended up sounding like Hank Marvin interpreting Neu!

The recent CD reissues all include remixes and new tracks as bonus material and attempt to promote Michael Rother as the father of techno! This is surprising, really, when his new album ESPERANZA turned out to be a much more sensitively crafted and mellow, mostly synth based album. More recently, Michael Rother played live in concert with Roedelius.
