Tapestry of Delights: This guy was basically a sort of one-man blues-band, although he also played with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac in the late sixties. Raining In My Heart also featured on Blue Horizon's In Our Own Way (Oldies But Goodies) compilation and Jumping At Shadows can also be found on Super Duper Blues. Fans will also be interested in two CD retrospectives: Jumpin' At Shadows (Indigo IGOCD 2010) 1995 compiles material from various sixties sessions and several tracks with Boz Borrell from the mid-seventies, whilst Out In The Blue (Indigo IGOCD 2018) 1995, features tracks from 1968 with Peter Green, two 1966 tracks with Top Topham, whilst the remainder are solo efforts from 1968 and the mid-seventies. He was sadly killed in a car accident in 1976 aged 29.

the Tapestry of Delights:
A Glasgow-based band, founded by Ricky Gardiner, who were signed to the progressive Vertigo label. They specialised in flashy instrumentation but were somewhat short on melody. Overall, the Act One album attempted to fuse classical and post-psychedelic progressive rock. They also had a big Continental hit with the non-album 45 Sarabande. Their next album effort, Waters Of Change, is usually considered a progression on their first effort. It is similar in style, possibly less frantic. Pathfinder contained a superb cover version of Richard Harris's MacArthur Park, which was probably its highlight. By now they had discarded their earlier keyboard-dominated sound for West Coast influenced harmonies and Get Your Dog Off Me was a very disappointing effort.
The band then recorded two German-only albums, Sagittary and Beggar's Can't Be Choosers as a trio with Ricky Gardiner, Virginia Scott and Peter Scott (a vocalist who had worked for the band on the Get You Dog Off Me release).
In the mid-seventies Gordon Sellar put together band under the Beggar's Opera name and recorded a further album. Ricky Gardiner also toured with David Bowie in this era. ... Read more »
