    Tapestry of Delights:
This experimental, left wing avant-garde group formed at Cambridge University in 1968. One of Virgin's earliest signings their music was totally uncommercial but tours with German band Faust and Captain Beefheart helped them build up a loyal cult following. Lindsay Cooper, formerly with Comus, replaced Leigh in 1974 and the band embarked on a collaboration with the avant-garde band Slapp Happy. This resulted in two interesting and highly individualistic albums. As a result of this collaboration, Dagmar Krause decided to join Henry Cow, leaving her two former colleagues in Slapp Happy, Peter Blegvad and Anthony Moore, to go their own way. The resulting album, Western Culture, in 1978 is beyond the time span of this book. When they finally split in the late seventies, Fred Frith went on to record a number of solo albums whilst most of the remaining members went on to form The Art Bears.
