Mike Pinera was of Blues Image and Iron Butterfly fame and Mitch Mitchell was the ex-Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer.
Their finest album, recorded in Florida, was mainstream rock which veered towards hard rock and jazz rock in places. There's a good guitar solo from April Lawton on She's A Woman and also a brass section.
After the first album Pinera departed for The New Cactus Band and later formed Thee Image. The second album, recorded by new line-up, is much better. It was recorded in New York. Highlights include The Land/Rainy Sunday Evening, an imaginative melancholic song in a progressive style with great string orchestration; I Can Only Love You, a fast tempo song with horns and a great guitar solo by Lawton and Stars And Stripes Forever, which has a carnival-like orchestration. There are also a couple of hard rockers and some fine fifties style material like Rhinoceros.
