    Tapestry of Delights:
The Easybeats were all sons of parents who'd emigrated to Australia (although Diamonde and Vanda were Dutch). By the time they headed for England in mid-1966 they'd had four No 1s in Australia in the past year. Their first release here in the UK, Come And See Her, made little impression but the follow-up, a classic pop song, Friday On My Mind, had immediate appeal and climbed to No 6 in the UK, No 16 in the US and gave them another Chart topper back in Australia. Its expression of teenage frustration with the nine-to-five routine uniquely captured the feelings of many throughout the world, but their career took a downward spiral when they were unable to provide strong enough follow-ups. Their albums were a curious mixture of easy listening songs and mildly psychedelic offerings like We All Live Happily Together. Their second album, Vigil spawned a couple of further minor UK hits, The Music Goes Round My Head and Hello, How Are You? St. Louis was a very minor hit in the US in 1969. My Dear Watson, a Scottish group, also appeared on their second album.
After they split in 1970 Vanda and Young formed Band Of Hope and then the Marcus-Hook Roll Band before returning to Australia where they later concentrated on production work and songwriting masterminding the success of AC/DC for whom Young's brothers Angus and Malcolm were guitarists.
George Young was the younger brother of George Alexander, a guitarist, singer and songwriter who fronted Grapefruit.
