The rushed follow-up to the Monkees' premiere album contains some true classics, despite the producers' blatant disregard for band member input. Like the first
album, this one mixes up big hits like "I'm a Believer" and "Steppin' Stone" with lesser known brilliance ("When Love Comes Knockin'" and "Sometime in the Morning"). The album also contains Peter's singing debut in the bizarre "Your Auntie Grizelda." Unfortunately, with the money-hungry producers wanting to cash in quickly on the band's initial success, a couple of tracks were included that might have otherwise been replaced. "The Day We Fall in Love," falls far short of its predecessor, "I Wanna Be Free," and it's a true wonder that it took four people to write "Laugh." The bonus selections, while not significantly different from the album cuts, still provide an interesting look into the studio recording sessions, with Peter's unnecessary interruptions during "Look Out" and Micky's first time through "I'm a Believer."

    Side 1
    "She" (Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart)
"When Love Comes Knockin' (At Your Door)" (Carole Bayer Sager/Neil Sedaka)
    "Mary, Mary" (Michael Nesmith)
"Hold On Girl" (Billy Carr/Jack Keller/Ben Raleigh)
"Your Auntie Grizelda" (Diane Hildebrand, Jack Keller)
"(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" (Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart)

    Side 2
"Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)" (Neil Diamond)
"The Kind of Girl I Could Love" (Roger Atkins/Michael Nesmith)
"The Day We Fall In Love" (Sandy Linzer/Denny Randell)
"Sometime In The Morning" (Gerry Goffin/Carole King)
    "Laugh" (Phil Margo/Mitch Margo/Hank Medress/Jay Siegel)
    "I'm a Believer" (Neil Diamond)

    Bonus Selections:
Don't Listen to Linda (Boyce & Hart)
I'll Spend My Life With You (Boyce & Hart)
I Don't Think You Know Me (Goffin & King)
Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) (Boyce & Hart)
    I'm a Believer (Diamond)
