    Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:

This Vancouver, B.C., band formed as the C-Fun Classics in 1961 and set out playing cover versions of current and past hits. Also known as The Classics they soon reverted to their own material and put out two 45s: Ace's High/Comin' Home Baby (Jaguar J 2001) 1963 and Till I Met You/I Didn't Take Much (Jaguar J 2002) 1964. The second of these was picked up by Jerden for national distribution in the U.S. (Jerden 742) 1964. Having appeared as a back-up band to local DJ Fred Latremouille on his 45, Latromotion/Good Lovin' (London M17339), the band travelled to Los Angeles to cut a 45, I Don't Know/Gone Away (Valiant V 723) in 1965 as The Canadian Classics to differentiate them from the other Classics around. The same coupling was issued in Canada on Jaguar 2003. It was only a minor success but helped establish The Classics at a time when other Canadian bands like Sparrow were beginning to attract attention in California. The Classics became known as The Collectors during 1967. Their first 45 was picked up by Valiant and after the follow-up, Fisherwoman, reached No. 15 in the Canadian Hot 100, they travelled to Los Angeles to record their brilliant debut album. One side was given over to the What Love (Suite), an ambitious live 19-minute piece which is at times brilliant and at other times flawed. The other side contained songs like She The Will O'The Wind which had a beautiful flute piece; the more strident Howard Christman's Older which bordered on the menacing; the melodic Lydia Purple and the beautifully haunting One Act Play. What Love was later commissioned as a film soundtrack by the Canadian Film Board and they were also invited to write music for their country's Pavilion at the 1970 World Exposition in Osaka, Japan.

This band are more significant for who they included than what they produced. After their demise, Mick Grabham made a solo album in 1972 and joined Procol Harum the following year. B.J. Cole also recorded a solo album in 1972 before becoming an important session musician. Stevie Marriott was in The Small Faces and Humble Pie. He also made solo recordings.

    ProgArchives:
The group CHARLIE & ESDOR was formed in 1970 at Katrineholm, Sweden by Edmund "Charlie" Franzén (sitar, drums) and Norwegian Esdor Jensen (guitar, bass, vocals).
Musically they could be described as a fusion of styles resembling THE INCREDIBLE STRING BAND's sitar driven acid folk tunes and more straight forward psychedelic rock in style of THE JIMI HENRDIX EXPERIENCE and THE CREAM. The sung in both Swedish and English, and performed mostly their own material, and the lyrics are about both everyday life and more philosophical contemplations.
They performed at the legendary Gärdet Festival in June 1970, which was organized by TRÄD, GRÄS OCH STENAR and Atlantic Ocean, and which was preserved on a LP album "Festen pü Gärdet". There was also a film with same name shot from the event by Rainer Hartlebs, and Charlie's sitar playing can be seen on it. The group continued giving out concerts and were signed to an independent MNW record label, which released their singles and "Grönt är Skönt" EP, which was their only official group release in the 1970's. The attempts to make a LP with Swedish and English sung sides did not succeed, and this EP was released instead. There were also some radio performances done, but there are not known recordings of these surviving in the public markets. Some of their performances had also quest musicians involved.
The group broke up in 1972, but in year 2005 their unreleased material from 1970-1972 were released by the Mellotronen label on the CD "Charile & Esdor". The band's music is warmly recommeneded to the fans of psychedelic progressive music, sitar driven ragarock and anybody interested of Swedish rock history! ~

    the Tapestry of Delights:
A little-known band. Musically in the progressive-jazz genre, the album was released on RCA's now collectable Neon label. It's quite unusual and includes a number of woodwind solos. Despite being recorded under the supervision of Howard and Blaikley it's musically miles away from that duo's sixties pop format. Paul French went on to play in Voyager in the late seventies and early eighties.

    Tapestry of Delights:

Timebox formed in Southport in 1966. Their pop-soul number, Walking Through The Streets Of My Mind, is well worth a spin, but by far their best known song is their cover of The Four Seasons' hit, Beggin', a strong number with a great dance beat. Later gems included Gone Is The Sad Man, a more psychedelic offering with its backwards tapes and gorgeous melody and a strange storyline song, Baked Jam Roll In Your Eye. However, they were never entirely happy with this musical format and in 1969, after Chris Holmes left, changed their musical direction and name to Patto (after their leader and vocalist).
