Fuzz Acid & Flowers: Literally an 'art-rock' concept album from Cleveland, inspired by the works of artist Paul Klee (1879-1940) and complete with a glossy leaflet with lyrics and pictures of some of his paintings.
A fusion of harmonious folk, pop and avant garde with some psychy touches, culminating in its most memorable track Long Hair Soulful with stoned vocals and acid-etched guitar. This had been released in 1967 in an abridged form and credited to
Bhagavad Gita, backed by an instrumental version of the same (Philips 40485, with PS). The instrumental take can be heard on Beyond

"In 1974 Bloomfield hooked up with a failed supergroup called KGB, from the initials of Ray Kennedy (co-writer of "Sail On, Sailor"), Barry Goldberg on keyboards and Bloomfield on guitar. The band had a rhythm section of Rick Grech on bass & Carmine Appice on drums. Grech and Bloomfield immediately quit after its release, stating they never had faith in the project. The album was not well received, but it did contain the standout track "Sail On, Sailor". Its authorship was credited only to "Wilson-Kennedy", and had a bluesy, darker feel, along with Ray Kennedy's original cocaine related lyrics."

Norwegian band that borrows ideas from Pink Floyd, Sebastian Hardie and Camel, and meld them into a uniquely Scandinavian style. The band includes flute, two keyboards and three (!) guitars. The use of keyboards (mostly organ and piano) is surprisingly subtle, the layered guitars (acoustic and electric both) give it a sometimes folkish feel. The flute often makes it sound like an instrumental version of Tabula Rasa. Overall very pleasant, while it doesn't blow you away with technical prowess, it eventually wins you over with its gentle melodicism. Mellom Oss adds some Norwegian and apparently Israeli (on "Trostevise") folk themes to arrive at a totally individualistic sound. Also many guest players, on viola, cello and female vocals. This one includes a 17-minute track. Both albums are excellent. -- Mike Ohman
