Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
From Chico, California, this band were originally known as The Medallions. Their album, which was produced by Larry Goldberg and Leo Kulka (aka Leo De Gar Kulka, a regular at Golden Gate studios, in San Francisco), consists of soft pop with a tinny organ backing and memorable tunes. Some of the tracks such as Susie's Gone, It's A Wonder, and Afternoon are extremely psychedelic and side one is much the stronger of the two. Something of a cross between Country Joe and The Fish and British North American Act, their album is certainly worth investigation and has been reissued on CD by Sundazed, with four previously unissued tracks - alternate versions of Susie's Gone, Chasing Rainbows, Afternoon and Morning.

Tapestry of Delights:
This was a sort of hard rock supergroup. Relf had previously been with The Yardbirds, Renaissance and recorded two solo 45s in 1966. Cennamo and Pugh had been with Steamhammer and Caldwell had played with Captain Beyond and The Johnny Winter Band. Their album is now a minor collectable, which has been likened to T2. Given the experience of the musicians it's disappointing and filled with boring minimalistic guitar riffs and flat melody lines. There are some good instrumental breaks but only Buzzard, a hard rockin' number with fast Ritchie Blackmore-like guitar work which culminates with some bluesy harmonica from Keith Relf and the slow, melodic Silver Tightrope are worth a listen.
Louis Cennamo also played in Renaissance, Chicago Line and Jody Grind.

Tapestry of Delights:
All tracks (composed by Miguel Sergides) on their extremely rare album are filled with an atmosphere of anguish and despair, even in their quieter moments. Both lyrics and music are struggling for expression, to the effect of creating a very dense and at times impenetrable album, which is worth your while nonetheless. Although barely escaping perennial threats of murkiness and even sloppiness, the convincing emotional contents save the day for this album. Especially impressive are the longer tracks like the opening I'm On My Way with its telling title, in which the song structure gets blown to pieces by emotional outbursts on guitar, leading into an altogether strange and hitherto unheard of territory. This track is also available on the rare label sampler Earthed from 1970. Due to mediocre vinyl, there are practically no copies to be found in truly excellent condition. Their 45 is also hard to find. The 'A' side is nicely paced with subtle guitar work whilst the flip is gently pleasing and atmospheric.
They also appeared on an EP, Aries 1969.

Tapestry of Delights:
The album, which came in a gatefold sleeve, is now a minor collectable. Musically, it is progressive rock with slight jazz tinges, produced by Patrick Campbell-Lyons from Nirvana. All of the songs on their album were composed by Ralph Denyer, who had previously been with Blonde On Blonde. In the nineties he published some books about guitar playing.
George Lee was later in a touring line-up of Arrival.

Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:
Aquelarre was formed by Garcia and Del Guercio after the break-up of Almendra. The band is often described as heavy progressive, but their first album contains six, basically slow to mid-tempo and mostly melodic numbers, with good guitar and keyboard work. The outstanding track is Ingador Campos Para Luchar, where the harpsichord recalls the album Reflections by the New York Rock & Roll Ensemble in collaboration with the Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis. On this track and indeed all over the record, there are some great guitar leads. The album's heaviest number is Movimento, which is based on complex guitar riffs. The album's stunning cover was drawn by Del Guercio and depicts the military coup shortly to take place in Argentina. He later became a graphic designer.
Their second album featured a notable cover too. It reproduced the painting entitled "Aquelarre" by the Spanish Painter Francisco de Goya. Musically, the standout track was Iluminen La Tierra, the finale. They were becoming more progressive as evidenced by the keyboard-driven Miren A Este Imbécil, the energetic Cruzando La Calle and the rhythmic Cuentos Tristes. There's some fine guitar work on the fast-paced instrumental Patos Trastornados and some softer moments with Soplo Nuestro and Cuentos Tristes, which featured Del Guercio on flute.
