Dreams Fantasies & Nighmares:
This progressive blues outfit operated out of Toronto, Ontario, between 1968-70. They were formed when Mike McKenna placed an advert in a local paper announcing that he wanted to start a blues band. Guitar and banjo player Joe Mendelson answered the ad and became the band's creative member writing all their original material. Nolasco and Harrison were recruited on drums and bass respectively to complement Mendelson's vocals and McKenna's driving guitar. The original bassist was Denny Gerrard, formerly of The Paupers, but he left after just three months.
McKenna had previously played with Luke and The Apostles (1963) and The Ugly Ducklings (1967-68).
Having established themselves in Toronto, Ontario, the band switched bases to England in 1968, where they aroused quite a lot of interest. Whilst there, they toured several European countries and at the Utrecht Pop Festival in Holland were the only band to receive a standing ovation.
They recorded their album Stink during their stay in England and upon their return to Canada in 1969 enjoyed a Top 50 hit with Better Watch Out, which was culled from the album. The inclusion of another cut, T.B. Blues, on the budget-priced Son Of Gutbucket sampler over in England, introduced their blues-rock to a much wider audience.
In mid-1971 they shortened their name to Mainline and further details of their career appear in that entry.

Some have speculated that given the band's prog/psych leanings, Catharsis was probably recorded in the '70s, although the accepted wisdom is that the album was made at Minneapolis's Sound 80 Studios on 1969. The album consists of six long tracks with a decidedly heavy guitar-based vibe, all well- recorded and delivered with considerable aplomb. A guitar-based progressive album recorded at Sound 80 in Minneapolis. Though undated, the record sounds of a mid-seventies vintage, not dissimilar to fellow Great Lakes prog rockers Kopperfield.

unencumberedmusicreviews:
Maxwells was an odd choice for the imprint, indicating an exploration into different markets at the time. Really fine exploratory effort from Maxwells, a band that continued to progress musically via the Rainbow Band moniker and even further as Midnight Sun. The music here is definitely inspired by the cutting edge horn rock movement as portrayed by the Chicago Transit Authority, but with an avant garde edge in places, perhaps recalling Friend Sound on their "Joyride" album. Splendid little album that demonstrates once again that Denmark was about a full year ahead of their Continental European contemporaries when it came to innovations in rock music.

wikipedia:
The Masters Apprentices (or The Masters to fans) were an Australian rock band fronted by Jim Keays on lead vocals, which formed in 1965 in Adelaide, South Australia, relocated to Melbourne in February 1967 and attempted to break into the United Kingdom market from 1970, before disbanding in 1972. Their popular Australian singles are "Undecided", "Living in a Child's Dream", "5:10 Man", "Think About Tomorrow Today", "Turn Up Your Radio" and "Because I Love You". The band launched the career of bass guitarist, Glenn Wheatley, later a music industry entrepreneur and an artist manager for both Little River Band and John Farnham. The band reformed periodically, including in 1987–1988 and again subsequently; they were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 1998 alongside The Angels. Both Keays, with His Master's Voice and Wheatley, with Paper Paradise, wrote memoirs in 1999 which included their experiences with the band.
Keays died from pneumonia related to multiple myeloma on 13 June 2014.

Travel back in time to 1969 with our official reissue of one of the most highly sought after west coast psychedelic rock records ever recorded. A heady trip, filled with grooving reverb-soaked jams! Prized original pressings command more than $1000!!
In the tumultuous Spring of 1968, the Mary Butterworth band was formed. Contrary to rumors, the group originated from Southern California and enjoyed being thrust onto the incredible scene that was developing during this remarkable time for music. After a year or so of performing throughout the region in places like the Marina Palace in Seal Beach and others, they decided to record and release a debut album on their own label. In 1969, on a shoestring budget, their album was recorded, manufactured and released. However, the limited pressing was pre-sold to fans and friends only, and never even made it into stores. It disappeared as quickly as it arrived, as did Mary Butterworth, who disbanded not long after the album’s release, never to perform together again.
After a decade or two, word of the album had spread to rabid collectors of vinyl records and late 60s music. Somewhere in Europe during this time, a bootleg vinyl was released and the legend of Mary Butterworth continued to grow, driving the price of the original pressing up into the hundreds of dollars. It would go on to be bootlegged a handful more times in various countries, further driving the price of the original pressing through the roof and continuing to enhance the reputation of this long lost piece of 60s psych rock history.
Incredibly, in 2003, the original Mary Butterworth song “Feeling I Get” was chosen by director Brian Reitzell as a music selection to be included in the fabulous Sophia Coppola directed film “Lost In Translation”.
