A short-lived blues-rock band, whose album attracts no more interest today than it did at the time. Apparently its pretty heavy and freaky, though.

Formed in Walthamstow, London, where they ran their own club 'The Bottleneck Blues Club', Sam Apple Pie soon attracted a large live following, with a mix of goodtime blues and boogie, interspersed with humour. In October 1969 they played the Amougies Festival, in Belgium, where Frank Zappa jammed with them.
They wrote all but one of the songs on their first album Sam Apple Pie (1969) which featured lead singer Sam "Tomcat" Sampson with Mike "Tinkerbell" Smith and Steve Jolly on guitars, bassist Bob "Dog" Rennie, Malcolm Morley on keyboards and Dave Charles on drums.
In 1970 they played the first Glastonbury Festival, after which Morley and Charles left to form Help Yourself and Steve Jolly to join Procol Harum offshoot Freedom. After several more line up changes, the band recorded their second album East 17 in 1973, with Sam Sampson and Bob Rennie from the first album supported by Andy Johnson and Denny "Pancho" Barnes on guitars, and Lee Baxter Hayes on drums.
They disbanded in 1974, but reformed the next year. During the hiatus, from mid 1974 to February 1975, the band members performed with Vincent Crane as Vincent Crane's Atomic Rooster. Further line up changes included bassist Gary Fletcher, who subsequently joined The Blues Band, keyboard player, Steven Golick and drummer Martin Bell. The band continued into the late 1970s, changing its name to The Vipers, (not to be confused with the new wave band of the same name) before disbanding.
Former member, Andy Johnson, died from throat cancer on Friday 5 March 2010 in Hastingwood, Essex, at the age of 62.

Glenn Schwartz (born 1941) first came to the attention of rock music audiences as the guitarist for The James Gang, based in Cleveland.
He left the James Gang in late December 1967 when he moved to California. He later joined the Los Angeles based Blues band Pacific Gas & Electric and, in 1970, scored a national top 20 hit with the song "Are You Ready?".
Tired of the rock and roll life, he left PG&E to join a pioneering Gospel rock group The All Saved Freak Band, which was the musical evangelistic arm of an Ohio religious group-turned-cult, the Church of the Risen Christ, headed by Larry Hill.
Schwartz recorded four albums with the Freak Band before leaving it in 1980.
While in Los Angeles on tour with the James Gang in 1967, Schwartz strolled onto the infamous Sunset Strip and stopped next to a small group of people listening to street preacher Arthur Blessitt. Some time later he professed conversion to Christianity, saying "I was finally blessed by mercy for I heard the Gospel of Christ."
Following his conversion, his zealous, new-found faith was not accepted well by the band, his family or his friends. "I had some Christian friends who had some round stickers that read 'Real Peace Is In Jesus' and we stuck those all over our clothes" he reported. "We put some on Janis Joplin but she didn’t like it and took them off. I remember she got pretty upset. At the time, the bikers [Hell’s Angels] really liked my music and style of guitar playing because it was so out of control like they were. They didn't mind I talked about Jesus because they liked the music. But Janis was pretty rude and nasty to them and I know they didn't like Janis or her music.”

Scented Gardens of Mind:
This group was formed by Michel Bonnecarrere after he left Zoo. Both albums by Ophiucus are fine pop-rock albums rooted in the sixties tradition of short tracks with quite good tunes. However, you will still recognise this instantly as an early seventies offering with lush and rural atmospheres overall (sometimes close to folk-rock a la Ilous & Decuyper). The quality ranges from average to excellent with quite a few gems packed with expressive vocals, acoustic guitars and some tasteful string arrangements. There are even glimpses of psychedelic and progressive rock. Overall, this is certainly worth hearing.

wikipedia:
After a brief trip to England in October 1968, cut short by visa problems, Nazz recorded their second album, originally entitled Fungo Bat in Los Angeles in late 1968 and early 1969. The album was originally intended as a double album but was shortened to a single LP before its release in April 1969. There was dissent within the group about releasing a double album, since the band was relatively new and not widely known. Guitarist Todd Rundgren favored the double album, in part to showcase experimental, piano-based material which was heavily influenced by singer/songwriter Laura Nyro. Stewkey and Mooney favored a single album featuring the group's original Beatles-Who-Yardbirds-Cream derived sound, a decision ultimately supported by their record company. Disillusioned by these events, Rundgren departed the group shortly after Nazz Nazz was released, and much of the leftover material was used on the posthumous Nazz III album that was released after he launched his solo career.

Hoje É o Primeiro Dia do Resto da Sua Vida (Portuguese for "today is the first day of the rest of your life") is the second solo record by Brazilian singer Rita Lee. Originally intended to be released as an album by Os Mutantes, due to conflicts with the band's record label it was released as a Rita Lee solo effort. The album marks the last time Lee would work with the Baptista brothers before her exit from Mutantes. In a matter of fact, the album was a product of a proper Os Mutantes creative process. The record company Polydor, declined to publish two Mutantes album within one year (the former was Mutantes e Seus Cometas no País do Baurets). The band decided to exclusively give Ms. Jones the vocal role, and publish the album under her name.
