AllMusic:
The Sentinals were among the host of start-up combos to have emerged from the fertile environs of California's Central Coast scene circa the early '60s. After scoring some regional fame and issuing a handful of 45s -- most notably the haunting "Latinia" -- on local independent labels, they were signed to the premiere surf imprint, Del-Fi, in the summer of 1963. While co-founder Tommy Nunes (guitar) provided the lion's share of the tunes for the Big Surf! album, The Sentinals likewise reworked a few selections that had already made an impact on the burgeoning coastline craze. Their open-throttled reading of the Isley Brothers' "Shout," the equally rousing rendition of the Beach Boys' "Surfin'," and the compact arrangement of R&B guitarist Freddie King's signature song, "Hideaway," are but a few. But one of the more peculiar covers is derived from the pen of Argentinean-born composer Lalo Schifrin, who would become best known for the theme to Mission Impossible. Years earlier, Schifrin had gained notice with several Latin-flavored jazz instrumentals, "Latin Soul" being one of his first. Interestingly, the band shared no less than five sides with Bob Vaught & the Renegaids, whose 1963 Surf Crazy LP included "Exotic," "Intoxico," "Surfin' Tragedy," Nunes' own "Latinia," and "Tor-Chula," based on the Champs' "Tequila." The title track, the gritty "Revellion," and the somewhat typical midtempo stomp "Sunset Beach" are a few of the other key entries.

... A later album (Future, 1967) was full-blown psychedelic rock, with ornate flower-themed graphics to match, and another was devoted to the blues (with liner notes by Muddy Waters).
By mid-1968, with their commercial popularity flagging, the group's personnel began to change; the band was renamed "Sky Saxon and the Seeds" in 1969, by which point Bob Norsoph, guitar, and Don Boomer, drums, had replaced Savage and Andridge. Saxon continued to use the name "The Seeds", using various backup musicians, at least through 1972; the last major-label records of new material by The Seeds — two non-charting singles on MGM records—were released in 1970. ...

wikipedia:
Diamond Girl is the fifth studio album by pop/folk duo.
The album contains a number of different musical styles and themes. "Nine Houses" is one of two intimate, religious songs, which the band would often reserve for after concert performances.
Diamond Girl peaked at #4 on the U.S. album charts. Its title track reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the summer and #13 in Canada. The follow-up single "We May Never Pass This Way Again" attained the #21 position late in the year (#33 in Canada).

The Saxons is one of the over 500 groups that were beat in Britain between 1963 and 1966. They started, like many others, in a band of "skiffle" in the late 50s. The founders were, Keith Jacks, Mick Platt, Dennis McBride, Allan Taylor and Tommy Worth. Keith, Mick, and Dennis left the group to move to interpret rock, and were replaced by Gerry Cook, who composed many songs for the group, Dave Bruce and Colin Mac. The group was well known, at least in its zone, district of South Essex, West Ham area. His most memorable performance was at the Victoria Palace Theatre, on the occasion of a show Guilds Songwriters', a guild of composers. Only they recorded an album with Decca, "Meet The Saxons", and is now highly coveted by collectors.
Le Group 5, are not French, as the name may suggest when reading the name, they come from the center of where the sound "mersey" born, or Liverpool, as if known Beatles, although Le Group not be familiar to anyone, even if one of its components was somewhat more famous in the 80s, guitarist Tony Atkins, who was in several groups. The other members were Brian Norman, Anthony Stephan Judd and John Colin Forcey. They also recorded one album, and also in a French label, with little commercial impact, although it has the merit of being a direct (though you'll notice that it seems a direct false), and in his hometown, hence the album is called in a curious mixture of English and Spanish, "In Liverpool Direct" ...

psychedelicfolk.com:
The music surely has its own character, which reveals itself most easily on the first tracks, and the last. What immediately attract are the first three songs ("September Woman", "Nightbirds", and "The Other Side of Silence"), sung with a soft romantic voice, played with moody organ or flute and some soft layers of guitars. The songs reveal deep feelings related with certain relationships. The fourth track, “Childhood's End” has more electric guitar arrangements. “Where did everybody go?” is something completely different in style, recorded with live voices in studio, a making fun song, perhaps recorded completely stoned. Also “Electric Children” is more rocking, and could have come from the same session. Also this is in a more mainstream style, compensated by an overload of crazy reverb effects on guitars. Both these tracks are from a different character and recording quality, but being in the middle of the album, just show something like a different aspect, a compensated insecure moment perhaps. “The Chase” holds the middle between this sphere and the earliest quieter moment, with some electric guitars working as the connecting wire. After “Stranger in the Street”, it is by “Letters to Seraphina” that we’re back to where the album started. It is one of the moodiest tracks, with additional tabla. Here I can easily associate the kind of seashore endless haze seen on the album cover.

discogs:
Danish rock group founded in 1967 by Anders Koppel and Thomas Koppel with Annisette Hansen, Jens Rugsted, Flemming Ostermann, Alex Riel and Ilse Maria Koppel as a backing-project for a TV-show. Their debut as an established rock-group was in May 1968 on Plænen in Tivoli, Copenhagen.
The Savage Rose became rapidly popular in Denmark, but also to some extent abroad. Their lyrics were inspired by Bob Dylan, and the music was a mixture of classical music and US westcoast psychedelic rock, characterized by vocalist Annisette. In fall 1971 The Savage Rose became reduced to a trio on account of musical disagreements – The Koppel Brothers and Annisette wanted to change the musical style towards soul and gospel. The Savage Rose reorganized as a group in 1973, and recorded Wild Child, - but split up in January 1975.
The group reformed as Savage Rose in 1977 now with Danish lyrics, a strong political engagement and in opposition to the established commercial music industry. Through the 80s the group played in Palestinian refugee- and partisan-camps, in Albania and at many manifestations on the political left wing. In this underground period Savage Rose released eight albums (almost all on independent labels) – while living among the underprivileged of Copenhagen. Core members in this period were Thomas Koppel, Annisette and John Ravn.

wikipedia:
Founded in 1967, the group was signed to Mercury Records, on which they released their eponymous debut in 1968. Their album was produced by Abe "Voco" Kesh who is famous with his work with the band Blue Cheer and Harvey Mandel. Their sound was close to groups such as Love and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Singer Bill Harper and bassist Steve Lage quit the band shortly thereafter, leading to the demise of the group. The band continued on touring until late 1968 and then disbanded.
Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond has cited the Savage Resurrection as one of his biggest influences and, in October 2008, performed a live set with guitarist Randy Hammon. There was some suspicion that Randy Hammon was actually Randy Holden due to some citing that was done in Joe Carducci's book, The Pop Narcotic; this seems to be a misconception.
Former band member Steve Lage, who was born Stephen Allen Lage, on August 15, 1947, died on July 25, 2010, in Oakland, California.

progarchives:
SATURNALIA was an obscure Brittish psychedelic band, leaving only one studio album as a target for the collectors of psychdelic rock albums. The record "Magical Love" was produced by Keith Relf (from RENAISSANCE and YARDBIRDS), and it was released year 1969. The album contains slightly occult themed psychedelic early progressive rock, resembling JEFFERSON AIRPLANE with their similar male/female double vocal concept and US West Coast psych guitar tones. The singers were Adrian Hawkins and Aletta, guitar was played by Rod Roach and the rhythm section had Richard Houghton on bass guitar and Tom Crompton playing the drums. Another comparison for the occult themed progressive rock album with male/female vocals could be BLACK WIDOW's "Return to The Sabbath", the first deleted and later reissued version of their "Sacrifice" album. The definite versions of "Magical Love" album has a 28-page booklet about the astrology, which was a strong element to the players doing this record. Certainly a nice and recommendable obscurity for the album collecttors for the fans of mentioned themes.
