    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
A New York-based avant garde rock group whose albums have not aged well but do deserve a mention here. From the same label as The Fugs, their recorded output (I've avoided using the word music) was even more anarchic. It tended to consist of wailing unmelodic vocals, avant-garde solos and various background noises. Their album does include two more structured tracks, Radar Eyes and Soon The Moon, but Squeek probably epitomises the best the sound they were striving to achieve. Overall, their third album is a slightly more structured and successful psychedelic venture, which makes more effective use of sound effects than their second effort. It also contains a few folky numbers like Walking Guitar Blues and Neet Street. Their fourth and final album was more in the mainstream rock mould but better produced. Certainly, the first three albums are for fans of highly experimental avant-garde rock only.
Jim McCarthy also recorded a solo album, Alien (ESP-3003) 1973, on which Paul Thornton plays maraccas. The session musicians included Left Banke members Steve Martin and George Cameron. It's pretty typical singer/songwriter stuff with Word Of Honour the stand-out track.
