Tapestry of Delights:
Trower, who was born in Catford on 9th March 1945, had been in The Paramounts, Procol Harum and the short-lived Jude before launching his solo career in July 1971. He fronted his own band throughout the seventies and enjoyed big album sales in the United States and success well into the eighties.
His guitar style is very influenced by Hendrix but his albums have been particularly successful in the US where Bridge Of Sighs, For Earth Below and Robin Trower Live! all made the Top Ten. Briefly in the mid-seventies he was heralded as a guitar hero of almost Hendrix proportion.
Jim Dewar had previously played with Jude, and Reg Isadore with Peter Barden's On. Bill Lordan was ex-Sly and The Family Stone. ~ (Vernon Joynson/Jim McMaster)
