    Wiki:
The Magnetic Fields is a band led by singer-songwriter Stephin Merritt. Albums released by Merritt under the name "Magnetic Fields" often make extensive use of synthesizers underlying clever lyrics, often about love, that are by turns ironic, bitter, and humorous. While The Wayward Bus and Distant Plastic Trees (now available together as a compilation) are sung by Susan Anway, later albums were principally sung by Merritt himself (though Shirley Simms handles about half of the vocal duties on Distortion.) ...

    Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:

Mahogany Rush were formed in Montreal, Quebec, in 1970 by Frank Marino, who, while recovering in hospital after a bad drug experience, maintained he was visited by an apparition of Hendrix. Once out of hospital he was able to pick up the guitar and play Hendrix riffs - he claimed he'd never been able to play a guitar before. Their first three albums were extremely derivative of the great man but they weren't condemned as mere copyists, they were applauded for paying tribute to him with such sincerity. They were bigger in the U.S. than their native Canada - indeed they headlined shows with The Chambers Brothers, Graham Central Station and Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes in the States.

Their third album Strange Universe was their masterpiece - cuts like Tales Of The Spanish Warrior, Land Of 1,000 Nights and the title track were miles beyond all their contemporaries in the heavy rock genre. The record is also technically brilliant and the relatively inexpensive U.S. original is recommended listening.

They went on to record well beyond the time frame of this book and their later efforts, which included Mahogany Rush IV (1976) and World Anthem (1977) illustrated Marino developing beyond Hendrix style material and influencing the band's future direction with his own material. This was evidenced by a later name change to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush and then, in 1980, following Ayoub's departure and the release of What's Next, to simply Frank Marino.

    Malo - 1972 - Malogenre: latin rock
    country: us
quality : lossless (wv, cue, log, scans)
    time: 43'02" size: 282 mb

    Wiki:
Malo was a Latin teenaged rock and roll group. The San Francisco, California based ensemble was led by Jorge Santana, the brother of famed Latin-Rock guitarist, Carlos Santana.
Four of the original members (Santana, Garcia, Tellez, and Bean) were previously in a band called the Malibu's. The other three founding members (Abel Zarate, Roy Murray, and Richard Spremich) were in a band called Naked Lunch together.
Malo had a huge Top 20 hit single with the song "Suavecito" in 1972 that was written by timbale player Richard Bean, who initially wrote it as a poem for a girl in his high school algebra class. The song has been called "The Chicano National Anthem" and was arranged for Malo by Richard Bean, bassist Pablo Tellez, and Abel Zarate. Tellez and Zarate also received co-author credits on Suavecito. In addition, guitarist Abel Zarate gave Malo a distinctive two-guitar sound, with intricate harmony and dual solos the norm. The band featured full horn and percussion sections, in the style of contemporary bands Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago and others. Some of the best musicians in the bay area played in Malo, including Forrest Buchtel, Jr., Ron Smith, Luis Gasca, and Tom Harrell in the trumpet section. Malo's music also had a huge following in Central and South America, especially the songs "Chevere", "Nena", "Pana", "Cafe" and "Oye Mama".
After the release of its first album, Malo had a well-documented rift that saw the group eliminate many of its band members. Buchtel went on to play with Blood, Sweat and Tears, Jaco Pastorius and Woody Herman - Harrell has become one of the most lyrical trumpet soloists of all-time, working often with saxophonist Phil Woods. Abel Zarate went on to play with Latin-jazz legend Willie Bobo and continues to play Latin/Brazilian Global jazz in San Francisco with his group Zarate Pollace Project. Richard Bean formed the group "Sapo" with his brother Joe, and is still touring throughout Northern California. Jorge Santana has embarked on a solo career, and still plays frequently with the current Malo band. Malo is also still touring, with only two of the original members, including Arcelio Garcia Jr., who took over the band in the late '70s.
The 1972 "Suavecito" release was sung by Richard Bean with Abel Zarate, and Arcelio Garcia on background vocals, and Zarate playing the signature guitar riffs. Richard Bean continues to perform the hit single with his band Sapo and recently shared his story about "Suavecito" on CalMagazine.com, Channel 9.

    Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:
This Argentinian band was put together by Charly García after Sui Generis split. Musically it continued in similar vein but with more complex and lengthy instrumentals.
The band had some pedigree. Bazterrica had been part of PorSuiGieco, Cutaia was ex-Pescado Rabioso, Fernández had been an early member of Crueis and Moro was a veteran of Los Gatos, Huinca and Color Humano.
They recorded a second album beyond this book's time span.

    My Solid Ground - 2001 - SWF Sessions 1971 + Bonus Album 2001genre: psych
    country: germany
quality : lossless (ape, cue, log, scans)
    time: 1:04'58" size: 419 mb

    Cosmic Dreams:
1st LP is a genuine treasure! Through the years, it has become immensely rare, and is now considered one of the monsters of German rock, fetching DEM 500 for mint copies. My Solid Ground was the one-off project. The recordings were done in February and April 1971 in Dieter Dierks' studio with Peter Hauke producing. The marvellous opening track "Dirty Yellow Mist" was as close as any group has reached into the atmosphere of Pink Floyd's Meddle album. The thirteen-minute track was driven by a monotonous, but very effective guitar riff. The organ passages really remind one of Richard Wright and there are pink pigs on the fold-out cover! "The Executioner" was a highly original and effective combination of mumbling vocal and heavy guitar and keyboard statements. There were three aggressive, punky rock songs: "Flash Part IV", "That's You", and "Handful of Grass". "Melanchonie" again recalls Pink Floyd, this time the mellow, peaceful romanticism of "Allan's psychedelic Breakfast". "Devonshire Street WI" was another highly original song, while the instrumental "X" ended the album. Definitely one of the ten best German albums of all time! It's a tragedy there were no further My Solid Ground albums. After this recording, all members seemed to drift back into obscurity and Hauke & Dierks were left to work with artists like Nektar and Omega.

    Cosmic Dreams:

Stephan Kaske was 18 years old when he formed the first Mythos line-up in 1969 with Harald Weisse and Thomas Hildebrand. In 1971 they appeared live at a festival and attracted Ralf-Ulrich Kaiser's attention. This led to a contract with Ohr records. The first Mythos album was duly recorded during Autumn 197l. "Mythoett" starts the album in a manner very similar to Jethro Tull. This was a revised version of Handel's fireworks music, on which Kaske played brilliant flute. He would soon be celebrated as one of Germany's best flute players. "Oriental Journey" has an Eastern flavour, as the name implies. "Hero's Death" was, by the Mythos' standards, unusually guitar-dominated.

Definitively a poetic way to finish a classic album - one of the best Ohr-releases! Truly indispensable! Late in 1972 the original Mythos split up. Kaske attempted to assemble a new trio at the beginning of 1973, but this came to nothing. Then in December 1973 he teamed up with Robby Luizaga and Hans-Jurgen Putz for the production of a television soundtrack for "Die Superspinne".

One of the tracks was later to be found on Dreamlab (1975), entitled "Eternity". This album, Mythos' second one, was released on Ohr's logical successor: Kosmische Musik. It was another great work of a more cosmic and spacey nature. However, Kaske himself thought of Dreamlab as a 'B-work' more than all ordinary Mythos album - pre-ordered by label manager Ralf-Ulrich Kaiser. The album cover was also Kaiser's decision: drawings of Tarot cards by Peter Geitner. Kaske soon separated from the two studio musicians he had worked with previously and produced further soundtrack works. In the Summer of 1976 he formed the third Mythos line-up with: Sven Dohrow, Eberhard Seidler and Ronnie Schreinzer. This was indeed a changed Mythos concept, now concentrating on shorter, more commercial and rock-based songs.
