    Tapestry of Delights:
Another fine underground band, which appeared regularly on John Peel's Top Gear, Skip Bifferty were discovered by Manager Don Arden, who secured a contract with RCA after seeing one of their early gigs at the Marquee. They had based themselves in London and secured a series of 10 Marquee gigs to help establish them. Bell and Gallagher had previously played with Chosen Few.
They released a number of singles of which the hard rocker On Love was the first and the best. The 'A' side contained a very catchy guitar riff. The follow-up Happy Land was more flower-power orientated. Despite a degree of airplay neither entered the Charts. Their final single, Man In Black was taken from the album which featured other fine tracks notably Guru unusual for its sole drum backing, the psychedelic Time TrackInside The Secret and Clearway 51. Man In Black, incidentally, was produced by The Small Faces' Ronnie Lane and arranged by Stevie Marriott.
Unfortunately, they failed to break through, and after conflicts with their manager they answered an ad in 'Time Out' and recorded the seven minute long I Keep Singing That Same Old Song under the name of Heavy Jelly. The track received wide recognition as a result of being featured on the Nice Enough To Eat sampler album.
In the seventies, Bell went on to Bell and Arc, which also included Gallagher and Turnball. Gibson played with Snafu in the mid-seventies. Gallagher was in several other bands including Parrish and Gurvitz, Frampton's Camel and Loving Awareness.
