Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
Formed in San Francisco in 1965. Although Kama Sutra tried to portray them as a 'good time' band they also gained the reputation as a good live act which placed emphasis on guitar work. However, the good time image was epitomised by tracks like Hello, Hello (a hit for them), Cellophane Woman and Walk In The Park on their first LP. This album was later reissued in 1973 as Hello Hello. Their final album was a vast improvement on their earlier work. Many of the tracks, notably Sleazy Street and Coke, Suede and Waterbeds had a distinctly jazzy influence, whilst Orange Peel had some stand-out flute playing and Dancin' Wizard was a slower, Eastern-influenced number. The strongest track, however, was probably Fazon- the opening cut - which typified the soothing, laid back sound which The Sopwith Camel had performed prior to their demise. Rod Albin, who had been in their pre-album line-up had earlier played for Liberty Hill Aristocrats. He left before the album to join Roadhog and Kasten also departed to Joy Of Cooking. Norman Mayell went on to play for Norman Greenbaum and Blue Cheer. William Sievers later recorded as William Truckaway. ~ (Vernon Joynson/Stephane Rebeschini)
