Dreams Fantasies & Nightmares:
A Peruvian band whose debut album Glue contains some fine guitar work on cuts like Trouble Child, the title cut and Bahia. In contrast The Sand Man features very Beatlesque vocals and My Love was a gentle soft rock number.
Their Etcetera album was melodic early seventies rock with ethereal keyboards and harmonius vocals. Their melodic mid-paced material is showcased at its best on the opening cut Someday and Everybody On Monday has a gorgeous blend of guitars and keyboards. This is evident too on a couple of slower numbers Mary Ann and the final cut It's Marvelous. Also worthy of mention are the catchy Oh! Tell Me July and the atmospheric Speed Fever. Recommended.
They displayed good musicianship on both these albums.

Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
Basically an Iowa merger of Billy Janey and the band, Truth, who were originally from Cedar Rapids. This is essentially a driving hard rock outfit whose guitar work on their first album often has some psychedelic trappings. A marginal case for inclusion here, their other two albums fall outside this book's time frame. If you like killer guitar work treat yourself to a copy of their first album which is now rare. The guitar work on tracks like Remember is stunning.
More recently Steve Bock appeared on a record in the '80s with southern California band, Nowhere Fast. Guitarist Billy Janey (who now goes by the name Billy Lee Janey) has also released at least four solo Blues Rock CD's during the late '80s - '90s.

Scented Gardens Of The Mind:
They were one of those groups that promised much, but never went further than an eponymous debut album. Stylistically their music was close to Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Blast Furnace and the jazzy Traffic-style. Neehammer's sax riffing is predominant on the album's five tracks, also frequently augmented by organ and electric guitar. "Mexico" (6:21) is the most effective track (paraphrasing the well-known sax riff from Traffic's "Freedom Rider"), while the longest tracks are less purposeful (due to the slightly repetitive solo sections).

Crack in the Cosmic Egg:
An obscure band, Tetragon originated from Osnabrück in Northern Germany from the Brian Auger inspired Blues Ltd. Later, after discovering The Nice, they changed their style and became the organ fronted trio Trikolon, and upon becoming a quartet they changed name to Tetragon!
After having toured with their Dutch heroes Ekseption, it's not surprising that Tetragon moved to an ever-more complex classical rock with extensive use of rearranged Bach and other classical themes. The deliberate accent on their blues and psychedelic roots, guaranteed a unique twist on the genre, though on their sole album NATURE one can detect much The Nice, Egg and Dutch progressive stylisms. An unknown classic.

Psychedelic Shark :
Brilliant, over the top, symphonic almost prog pscyhedelia from New York’s Vanilla Fudge.
Not every mans cup of tea, but in our opinion a marvellous slice of heavy psych that should nestle in everyones LP rack and be revered for its truly pompous power. If gargantuan slabs of organ are your thang then this baby will blow you away. The music is long, drawn out and has an almost orchestrated classical feel to it, the vocals and organ are immensely powerful and Renaissance contains the most righteous cranial slapping version of Season Of The Witch that you will ever hear, anywhere, period.....!!
