From San Francisco, Californian-meets-India group played a very relaxed mystic blend of music, alternating instrumental cuts with vocal songs. Titles like We Want To Be Free, I Do Believe and Innocence illustrate their work. Zakir Hussain also played with Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead on his Rolling Thunder album. ~ (Stephane Rebeschini)

ItalianProg:
Franco Falsini had been in 1966 one of the founder members of the legendary power trio Noi Tre, that also featured a future member of La Triade, Agostino Nobile. The group, equally influenced by the likes of Cream and Pretty Things, only released a single in 1968, after which Falsini left them, replaced by another future legend of the italian progressive rock, Paolo Tofani, later with Area and also known as Electric Frankenstein.
After another short-lived group, Le Madri Superiori, Falsini then formed Sensations' Fix, with former Campo di Marte italo-american bass player Richard Ursillo and american drummer Keith Edwards.
It's worth noticing that the group's name has been written as Sensation's Fix on their promo-only first album and Sensations' Fix in the other ones.
The group was based in a farm near Florence, and had a krautrock-like attitude that leaves them as a unique band in the italian prog field. Mainly an electronic band, based on keyboards and with very little use of voice, they released no less than three albums in 1974, one of them only intended for promotional use, and all based on instrumental-only themes in the same style as many german bands of the Cosmic Couriers genre.
Their albums were self-produced and recorded in the band's own studio, with an amateurish sound quality.

Tapestry of Delights:
The first album by this confused bunch of excellent musicians still holds its ground after 27 years. Its unusual mixture of poetic psych with Hendrixy or Arthur Brownish heavy episodes and progressive (in 1968!) structures is inventive and only slightly flawed by not always strong vocals. Lovely arrangements and above average compositions make this recommended. Highlights: the opening cut A Fairy Tale (great mellotron) and the trippy title track. Don't let the cover art fool you: it's meant to look "second hand".
The second album from a thoroughly revised line-up, of which two versions exist (one with and one without the funeral march), is much more complicated and even closer to Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. Fully developed progressive compositions and all kinds of keyboards dominate, often there are two or three different ones simultaneously, producing many very different textures. The rhythms are complex and unusual, enriched with odd time-signatures, at times drifting off towards inaccessibility, but always coming together. The atmosphere is sombre, yet not always completely serious (another Arthur Brown parallel). Not much easy listening here, nor are there any virtuoso passages. A very good record, though, definitely as recommended as the first one, albeit on different grounds. ~ (Marcel Koopman)

This folkie from New York City cut an outstanding psychedelic folk track in Rising Of Scorpio. The album is nowhere near as good but has its moments. It was produced by The Strangeloves' Richard Gottehrer. Phoenix was a subsidiary of Sire. ~ (Max Waller)
