SoundBySound:
It was January of 1972 when Nurt, a four-member progressive rock band from Poland, took part in a festival of avant-garde music. The group won a recording session at a professional Studio M-1 at Polish Radio headquarters in Warsaw. Along with the grand prize, their composition “The Son Of Fear” received an extra award for the best arrangements.
Getting a pass to a studio was quite an achievement for an unknown band that would mainly gig at college dorms and jazz festivals. The local scene in Poland had a lot of talent at that time and Nurt was undoubtedly one of the main acts offering brand new concepts people were completely unfamiliar with. Stepping into a radio studio was one of the limited ways of having an album recorded in Communist Poland, and could possible lead to signing a deal with a record label. Communism restricted the evolution of rock music in Eastern Europe and the media neglected the phenomenon that was seen as promoting the “American way”. Artists had to pay attention to lyrics being censored.

Borderline (Dreams Fantasies & Nigtmares):
The group formed in Toronto, Ontario in the early months of 1966 as a follow-on to the Lords Of London. They eventually secured a contract to record an album for the Chicago-based Mainstream label. The result was a heavy rock album with some psychedelic influences. All six tracks were originals, written by Greg Fitzpatrick. There's some good keyboard work from Bob Horne, but a lot of the music is rather disjointed. It's finest moments are the more melodic outings like Judgement Day and Share Your Colour. The album is now of minor interest to collectors but I can't really recommend it. They evolved into A Foot In Cold Water.

oe: Highly recommended. Strange mixture of Black Sabbath / Jethro Tull
Scented Gardens:
Nu were one of the best Spanish groups of the late seventies, sounding like a violent mixture of Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath and High Tide, with aggressive, Ozzy Osborne-like high-pitched Spanish vocals added on top. Most of the tracks were unusually complex for the genre and characterized by screaming vocal parts alternating with head swirling battles between lead guitars, violin and flute. Cuentos de Ayers y de Hoy (1978) is regarded as their classic, comprising ass-kicking adrenalin-fuelled tracks such as "Preparan" (6:47) and more reflective ones like "Paraiso de Flautas" (9:34). Despites some obvious influences, this is a truly original album, ranking among the most indispensable ones from this part of Europe.

wikipedia:
Their music was partly inspired by American acid rock, but heavy and blues based like a mixture of Black Sabbath, Cream and Led Zeppelin. November started in 1968 at Tegelhögen, a youth club in Vällingby (a Stockholm suburb). At this club Christer Stålbrandt and Björn Inge played together with two friends as The Imps. After a few months Stålbrandt left the group to form a new group called Train. Björn Inge joined shortly after. Train also included Snowy White on guitar. In the early autumn of 1969 Snowy decided to return to his native homeland, England, and Richard Rolf joined as their new guitarist.
On November 1st, 1969 they supported Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at the Que-Club in Gothenburg, and therefore they decided to call themselves November.
November was one of the first Swedish rock bands with Swedish lyrics. Most of the lyrics were written by Stålbrandt, influenced by the 60's flower power movement. Despite the Swedish lyrics, November was quite popular in England. While touring in England the lyrics was often translated to English, the crowd, however, insisted on the band performing with Swedish lyrics.
November recorded three albums which all reached high places on the Swedish charts. After their last concert at club Domino on New Year's Eve 1972 the band split up and had up until 2007, only performed once, namely during the release party for the CD November-Live 1993 (recorded on tour in 1971) on 30 Nov 1993.
Christer Stålbrandt moved on starting the group Saga, Björn Inge joined jazz rockers Energy, and Richard Rolf was one of the forming members of Bash and later on joined Nature.

Borderline (Fuzz Acid & Flowers):
A LA-based outfit whose album is at present only a very minor collectable. Seriously arty pop it mixes soft melodies with searing acidic guitar - tracks like Love (a Lee Michaels cover) owe a heavy debt to the Vanilla Fudge school. With covers of Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay and Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love amongst freshly-scrubbed harmony pop, this group seemed to be in a quandry - "are we just another pop group or a serious rock band?" The resulting dichotomy won't convince fans of either genre, so the LP is disappointing and best described as patchy. ~ (Vernon Joynson / Max Waller / Stephane Rebeschini)
