the Open Mind ~ 1969 ~ The Open Mindgenre: psych
    state: uk
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers, size: 334 mb). mp3 (320k, covers, 157 mb)
    time: 52'42"

    Tapestry:
This band produced one of the finest UK psychedelic albums, which is excellent throughout and hardly contains a bad track. The music is characterised by some particularly strong psychedelic guitar work and good vocals. It's impossible really to pull-out particular tracks as highlights - they're almost all equally good. The Antar reissue, which came in a redesigned sleeve, includes their second rare 45 release, which unlike the first wasn't taken from the album and is superb. A blistering 45 with tasty psychedelic fuzz guitar work.

Omega plus ~ 1969 ~ How To Kiss the Sky - featuring Claude Engelgenre: proto-zeuhl
    state: france
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, size: 186 mb)
    time: 29'27"

oe: by English - full fly away, on russian - полный улет

    Scented Gardens of Mind:
This trio led by Claude Engel made a legendary album . Just 1,000 copies were pressed in 1969. Side one had 5 short songs with English lyrics, ranging from heavy progressive blues-rock to largely acoustic songs (comparable to Cream and Blind Faith). Claude Engel's voice is also quite similar to Jack Bruce's. The other side had a long live track named "Voyelles", based on a poem by Arthur Rimbaud, including a recitation. This is the primal scream of "zeuhl" rock, in a very raw and rudimentary form that quite a few will interpret as vaguely planned three
man jamming. Overall the album is undoubtedly historical, but not entirely satisfying for all that.

    Octopus ~ 1969 ~ Octopusgenre: psych, jazzy
    state: states
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, size: 253 mb)
    time: 42'56"

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
The New York bands album has blues and jazz leanings. The second side is the strongest containing two long tracks: the unbluesy U.S. Blues, an anti-war song with wild vocals and free-jazz sax and the jazzy psych Fruk Juice.
Trevor Koehler was a member of Insect Trust and was just an assisting musician with this band playing on two of the album tracks.

Ohio Express ~ 1967 ~ Beg, Borrow And Steal + 1968 ~ Ohio Expressgenre: bubblegum, poppsych
    state: states
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers, size: 512 mb)
    time: 1:18'57"

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
This was one of the number of bubblegum acts put together by producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz. From the start this was more of a 'project' rather than a single band. Beg, Borrow Or Steal was recorded by The Rare Breed. The outfit that first went on the road as Ohio Express was another Mansfield, Ohio group Sir Timothy and The Royals, led by Tim Corwin. They were involved in many of the earlier studio recordings and Corwin stayed on through later personnel shifts. Other early tracks were recorded by the Measles (who included Joe Walsh and were later known as Lacewing), before Levine took control of the project.
They are best remembered for their hits Yummy, Yummy, Yummy and Chewy, Chewy, which were typical of the bubblegum genre (heavy repetitive bass beat, simple lyrics and nasal vocals), but they also enjoyed several other minor hits. Two of their albums made the Top 200:- Ohio Express (which included Yummy, Yummy, Yummy climbing to No. 126 and Chewy, Chewy peaked at No. 191, but bubblegum music really aimed at the singles market. Their first seven 45s were sung and written by Joey Levine, who was on Buddah's staff, but Buddy Bengert was lead singer on Pinch Me and Graham Gouldman (later of 10cc fame) performed the vocals honours on Sausalito (Is The Place To Go).
On their eponymous second album whilst the studio musicians performed songs like Yummy Yummy Yummy and Down At Lulu's, they left the rest of the material to the band pictured on the cover. Tucked away on this album are some very pleasant surprises. For fans of pop-psych with beautiful harmony vocals, She's Not Coming Home is simply exquisite and the breezy pop of Winter Skies may appeal too. Into This Time has a great psychedelic guitar ending, First Grade Reader showcases a harsher side to their music - it also features some fine guitar work. Turn To Straw is a superb slice of psychedelia and the jewel in the crown is garage-popster The Time You Spent With Me which contains some great psychedelic guitar passages.
Do check out some of their albums - you'll be pleasantly surprised. ~ (Vernon Joynson/Max Waller/Mike Markesich)

    Odyssey ~ 1969 ~ Setting Forthgenre: heavy
    state: us
quality: lossless (ape, cue, log, covers, size: 258 mb)
    time: 40'58"

    Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
This is a very rare psychedelic/progressive collectors' item, from a Brentwood, Long Island, New York group and certainly the recent repressing/CD issue is well worth seeking out. The album is of a pretty consistently high standard. There's lots of heavy psychedelic guitar, upfront keyboards and very expressive vocals. The stand-out tracks include Society's Child, Church Yard and Angel Dust (although this last one is partly marred by a rather boring drum solo).
Michael Tschudin's composition You're Not There, was a reworked version of a track that appears on Listening's album. Original copies were issued in a plain white cover some of which were emblazoned with a title sticker reflecting the album title above. Most were in plain covers and this title does not appear on the record label. ~ (Vernon Joynson / Clark Faville / Max Waller)

    state: us
quality: lossless (flac, cue, log, covers, size: 302 mb)

This hard rock album is now of minor interest to collectors. Randy Oda was later in a late seventies band, Ruby, with Tom Fogerty. This album probably won't be of any interest to fans of garage, psych or 'hippie rock' but is a very competent hard rock album with some incisive lead guitar work from Randy Oda.

... Following the release of their eight studio album, Storia o leggenda, Le Orme retired from touring to focus on exploring new directions for their music. The result was 1979's Florian in which the band members traded in their electric instruments for classical ones, emerging with a sound more akin to chamber music than rock.
