Formed in late 1970, Randy Bachman had previously been in The Guess Who and Chad Allan had fronted Chad Allan and The Expressions, which later became The Guess Who. They signed to Reprise in 1971 recording these two albums. They also enjoyed four hit singles.
In 1973 they switched labels to Mercury, adopted a harder edge to their music and changed names to Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Randy Bachman departed in 1977 to form Ironhorse and also enjoyed a solo career.
