Neon Rose was formed in 1969 by bandmembers Roger, Piero and Benno under the name Spider; when Stanley Larsson joined the group in 1973 they took the name Neon Rose. Signing with Vertigo Records (oe: my beloved GREAT company forever), their debut album was released in 1974, and was quickly followed with a sophomore effort early in 1975. Following the recording of this album, Stanley Larsson left the group and was replaced by Thomas Wiklund, formerly of Uppåt Väggarna. The group's final album, Reload, was released in 1975 and the group split, with Roger going on to join Wasa Express.
Piero attempted to reform the group with all new members in 1977, but this incarnation disbanded after recording a few demos. In 1981, the group reformed with Piero and Benno and several new members. They recorded one single for Rosa Honung Records which was never issued.

Fuzz Acid & Flowers:
One of the many forgotten bands gigging in the 'Frisco area, Neighb'rhood Childr'n's sole album on Acta is a psychedelic 'gem'. But, alas, after its release they simply vanished from the scene. Back in '68 with comparatively crude instrumentation available they created some very spacey sounds on tracks like Long Years In Space, while Chocolate Angel is something of a psychedelic jam. Feeling Zero appears to have been specially written to bring you down after another trip, while tracks like Happy Child and Patterns feature Dyan Hoffmann's crystal clear vocals. lndeed on Long Years In Space she complements the other vocalists to give the band a Jefferson Airplane-type sound. They even perform a re-creation of Over The Rainbow from Wizard of Oz.
Neighb'rhood Childr'n also recorded a couple of acetate albums in addition to the album on Acta, and this together with the 'Acta' album is strongly recommended to connoisseurs of psychedelia.
The band evolved out of Oregon's Navarros, when their original drummer John Morrison was drafted. After about a year Campbell, Gleim and Ryan quit too and Bolz and Hoffman were then joined by central California musicians W.A. Farrens on drums and Ron Rachsdorf on lead guitar. ~ (Vernon Joynson / Clark Faville / Darryl F. Riffero / Stephane Rebeschini)

From either the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania or New Jersey area. Their album may not be considered psychedelic, but the music is plenty raw and not too polished, being in a heavy garage rock vein. It was apparently sent out to local venues around 1971 for booking purposes and was issued in both plain white jacket, and white jacket with group name and label/number stamped on it in blue ink. Some copies contain a bio and cover letter.
The 45 was non-album. It is also rumoured that they backed El John, an Elvis impersonator on his album Caught In The Act (private pressing, circa 1972). ~ (A. Mullin / Clark Faville / Max Waller / Stephane Rebeschini)

Based in Philadelphia, this band's album is full of pleasant mostly original compositions. Many of the tracks, particularly on side two are gentle, laid back ballads with Marble Reflections, Tryin' So Hard, Everything Is Fine and the mystical Just To Be With You the pick of these. It includes one genuinely psychedelic track - Color Scheme, a high energy rocker with lots of frantic guitar work. Recommended. The album was produced by Jack Shaw and recorded at the Regent Sound Studios in New York City. The 45 was taken from it.
The band's main claim to fame was that it was one of Todd Rungren's first outfits (along with Money) betore he went off to form The Nazz. He left prior to the recording of their album. ~ (Mike Warth / Vernon Joynson / Scott Blackerby)

wikipedia:
Napoleon XIV was an artist name of the American singer, songwriter and record producer Jerry Samuels (born 3 May 1938, New York), who achieved one-hit wonder status with the Top 5 hit novelty song "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" in 1966. Samuels also wrote "The Shelter of Your Arms", a top 20 hit for Sammy Davis, Jr. in 1964.
In 1966, Samuels concocted "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" while working at Associated Recording Studios in New York. The public found out his true identity when Cousin Brucie of WABC outed him. The record quickly climbed the charts, reaching the Top Ten nationally in just its third week on the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at #3 and sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.
The success of the single inspired a Warner Bros. album of the same name in 1966 (reissued by Rhino in 1985), most of which continued with the mental illness theme (for example: "Bats In My Belfry" and "Split Level Head" which features different vocal parts in each stereo speaker). A second single of two recordings from that album was relatively unnoticed.
Currently, Samuels works as a singer and agent who books various performers. He works the Delaware Valley area.

This rare groove quintet, were obviously influenced by the Parliament. This album was cut in 1972 in the midst of the invictus/hotwax regime. If you like raw, guitar influenced funk this is an album you can not overlook !
Incredibly messed-up funk -- a 70s instrumental classic that's delighted our ears for years! The set's got a cosmic sound that mixes together conventional guitar-based funky with some weird electronic touches at times -- going for a fuzzed-out moogy quality that really deepens the groove -- and which goes even further on those tunes that push the basslines all the way into the red! The group's headed by McKinley Jackson, and features some ex-members of Parliament -- all coming together in a full, rich sound that almost has traces of soundtrack sophistication at times -- yet which manages to come across with the burning energy of a funky 45! The album includes the classics "Funky Toes" and "Psycha-Soula-Funkadelic" -- plus the group's legendary take on "Free Your Mind", a sample classic from years back!
Great stuff if you dig a fuzzy Westbound sort of funk groove
